Portugal — Selenis, a leading provider for specialty Copolyester solutions, is proud to announce the launch of Selcare CE 500 through its dedicated healthcare brand, Selcare. This breakthrough product is engineered as recycle-ready material that meets the requirements for RIC1 identification, while upholding the highest standards of performance within this PET waste stream.
Selcare CE 500 joins the established innovative range of Selcare medical grade, where sustainability is a strong focus. Selcare CE 500 is a low glycol modified polymer resin engineered specifically for film extrusion in healthcare packaging. Manufactured to the highest quality standards, it is designed to meet the stringent demands of the regulated healthcare industry.
“Our innovative batch production technology has enabled Selcare to develop a low glycol modified polyester that delivers exceptional performance, designed to be recycled in the RIC 1 stream. This tailor-made glycol modification provides improved processability, superior sealing, and enhanced impact resistance compared to existing modified APETs. By offering this at a price point between standard APET and PETG healthcare grades, Selcare CE 500 is a truly cost-competitive and sustainable solution that facilitates closing loops in healthcare packaging.” – said Eduardo Santos, Global Head of Strategy for Selcare.
The Selcare CE 500 resin delivers exceptional clarity, a neutral color, and a high-gloss finish, ensuring excellent visual performance and product visibility. Furthermore, it comes with comprehensive regulatory declarations, including ISO 10993, USP Class VI, USP <661.1>, and ICH Q3D. Importantly, Selcare CE 500 is free of intentionally added BPA, aligning with the industry’s safety expectations and regulatory compliance. Change control and notification is included as standard.
In partnership with a leading manufacturer of masterbatch concentrates, all Selcare grades can be customised for color and performance to meet individual customer specifications while adhering to the same healthcare regulatory requirements.
As healthcare customers increasingly demand sustainable, compliant, and future-proof materials, many conventional packaging solutions are falling short. Selenis’ Selcare brand offers a robust and transparent value proposition built to support the unique needs of the healthcare industry, today and tomorrow.
The Selcare model ensures security of supply through manufacturing at multiple sites, a well- defined business continuity plan with back-up supply options, and full technical support and advice across development and production stages. Customers can also expect dedicated assistance for MDR (Medical Device Regulation) compliance, along with complete formulation disclosure and notification of change protocols, giving them confidence and control.
The Selcare CE 500 product features in a webinar series on Sustainability in Polyesters for Healthcare Applications on the 5th Nov 2025, brought to you by Selenis (Selcare resins) in collaboration with Resinex.
